Young Woman Spotlight:
This month we are spotlighting Katie Palmer, our newest Beehive! Katie is a very happy, friendly girl who loves to spend time with friends. She loves reading and school and does very well at both. She will compete in calculator at the State Math tournament this year. She plays the flute and will compete at a State tournament with the Abilene Piano Ensemble team in June. She also has a beautiful voice. Katie also participates on the Jammin’ Jumpers Jump Rope team here in Abilene . She is the oldest of three children and a great example to her brothers. She works hard, is creative, and loves to help around the house. She loves to scrapbook and cook with her mom. She is a very well rounded, fun person to be around.
Presidency Message
In the June 1971 New Era, President N. Eldon Tanner, the second counselor in the First Presidency at that time, said, “As someone has said: “If we were to be arrested for being Christians, I wonder if there would be enough evidence to convict us?” We have been warned and forewarned. We cannot plead ignorance. If we are to save ourselves, our families, and our country, we must, as Peter taught, repent, be baptized, change our ways, and turn and serve the Lord and keep his commandments. The responsibility rests on us as individuals. We need a spiritual renaissance.”
I hope that if people at school wonder if you are a Latter-day Saint, there would definitely be enough evidence to convict you. You girls are so blessed to have the gospel in your lives and I hope you take advantage of those blessings by living the gospel and sharing it with those around you. Thank you for being good examples!
Love, Sister Bryner
